    5.1 Magnitude Earthquake Hits North Carolina/Earthquake in carolina/Mangnitute/Damage


    The seismic tremor close to the fringe with Virginia was the most grounded in the area since 1916, the specialists said. 


    A tremor with a starter greatness of 5.1 that struck North Carolina close to its fringe with Virginia on Sunday morning was the zone's biggest in longer than a century, the United States Geological Survey said. 


    The seismic tremor struck around two miles southeast of Sparta, N.C., a town around 100 miles north of Charlotte, not long after 8 a.m. neighborhood time and was felt as far south as Atlanta and as far north as Baltimore, as indicated by reports made by people in general to the organization. 


    The tremor was the district's biggest since one of 5.2 size struck in 1916 in the close by Great Smoky Mountains. A 5.8 greatness tremor in 2011 that struck Mineral, Va., around 200 miles upper east of Sunday's quake, is the biggest one on the East Coast in late history. 


    Some basic harm to structures was accounted for on Sunday. The smokestack fallen at one home close to Sparta and recordings via web-based networking media indicated streets split and water lines broken.
